Motionwear Spotlights Indianapolis Dancer, Michelle Meltzer
Motionwear spotlights Indianapolis, Indiana dancer, Michelle Meltzer for her dedication to the arts.
Meltzer, an Indianapolis native, has been dancing her entire life. “My mother enrolled me in my first dance class when I was three years old; however, I developed a deeper love and appreciation of dance much later on in my training” says Meltzer. Meltzer’s first professional experience working with a dance company was at nine years old, where she performed with Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre in Dracula.
She grew to love the modern style of the company and chose to focus primarily on modern dance until she was sixteen. “At around fifteen, I met one of the most influential mentors and teachers in my life, Victoria Lyras. Her wonderful staff of artists, including my teachers: Michelle Merrell and Kristin Hakala, inspired me each day to pursue a new dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer.”
Currently at Indiana University’s Ballet Department, Meltzer says being accepted has been a pivotal stepping-stone in her career. “Working with Violette Verdy has been the greatest gift I could ask for. Her watchful eye and delicate attention to detail has inspired me to narrow my focus and refine my technique. She gives her life to her students, myself included, caring more about the soul within over the dancer without.”
Meltzer plans to dance professionally in a ballet company and continue to work hard and expand her dancing range until she retires. She also plans to continue teaching ballet and giving back to the community. Meltzer said some of the best advice she’s been given is “You can do everything you need to do, as well as what you choose to do, just not all at once.”
“I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Experiences in my life, whether good or bad, have taught me valuable lessons that I continue to carry with me,” says Meltzer in response to the ability to do something over in her career.

Motionwear Awards Alabama Studio Cash Prize for "Why My Studio Rocks" Program
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (September 26, 2012) – Motionwear, the Indianapolis-based dance apparel manufacturer, announces the winner for their "Why My Studio Rocks" program in effort to shine a spotlight on the winning studio. Motionwear acknowledged Dream Makers Dance Studio in Columbiana, Alabama by awarding them a $500 cash prize.
“This is amazing and came at a much needed time.“ said Jenny Lepsi, Dream Makers Dance Studio.
"She uses dance as our therapy and a place to escape. We are in such a small little town in the middle of Alabama. All we have is a gym. No barres, mirrors, mats; only love and passion." - says a student of Dream Makers Dance Studio.
The "Why My Studio Rocks" program is a campaign to highlight studios for their work in the dance community. Studios and students submitted a written essay detailing why their studio should win. Studios play an integral role in the life of a dancer. Motionwear realizes that the studio is the foundation of where the dancer's dreams come to life.
"As a father whose daughter danced her entire young adult life, there is no question that her experiences in the studio were the main reasons she loved the art and danced so long. We wanted to bring the fun exposure to the winning studio and give back as well." says Charles M. Pugh, VP Sales and Marketing.

Motionwear,
a leading manufacturer of dance, gymnastics team and cheerleading
apparel, introduces a new, fashion forward dance apparel line. Inspired
by runway couture lines, the Runway Attitude line brings new fabrics
and unique treatments to the dance world.
"We
scoured the runways and couture houses to create these fashion forward
styles," said Motionwear Designer Katie O'Brien. "Each leotard has been
painstakingly crafted. Our decadent new fabric, a new nylon spandex
blend, has been specifically fashioned to compliment the dancer's
silhouette."
The
inspiration for the Runway Attitude line came as a result of
Motionwear's search for something new, something not currently
available in the dance apparel marketplace. The focus was on stretching
the dance apparel boundaries with a high fashion couture line
of leotards using fresh new fabrics and exploring detailed
treatments.
"It's
something new in the market, something new for Motionwear," said
Motionwear Executive VP Theresa Mason. "These leotards offer dancers a
touch of high fashion with meticulously detailed features."

active apparel trends change and customers demand more from their
clothing and where they choose to purchase it, Motionwear continues to
evolve. For 25 years, Motionwear has built a reputation for outstanding
fit and quality setting the standard in active apparel for dance,
gymnastics, team and cheer apparel.
